About Hannah
Hannah has been living in France since December 1998. She attended the Maternelle School at Champagne Mouton, from 1998-2001. she now attends the Primaire at Champagne Mouton. She speaks both English and French. At first Mummy took Hannah and her three sisters to the bus stop outside the Mairie in Grand Madieu. However in 2000 it was decided that Mummy would take all the girls to school in Champagne Mouton school begins at 8.50 am and finishes at 4.50 p.m.
At Maternelle she has lots of friends with whom there is plenty of time to play with at school. There is a morning play time, lunch time of about 2 hours and an afternoon playtime. The school is well equipped with outdoor toys. With shade from the sun and protection from the rain.
School is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. School live is not that much different from England, only that the school day is longer. Hannah plays with her friends, learns development and social skills. She is taught how to count and to know the alphabet letters and sounds. She is able to write her name. Much time is spent on creative work, she enjoys painting and making things.
School meals cost about 95p per day for this Hannah has a mid morning snack, three course lunch and an afternoon snack too.
Whilst Hannah was in Petite section and for the first half of moyenne section she was able to have an afternoon sleep in the dormitory. However now that she is 5 years old, she being encouraged to listen too relaxing music and lie on the mats in the class room and have an afternoon siesta. September 2000, Hannah is in the Grand Section and is being prepared for school live at the Primaire next year. Hannah enjoys school very much! She has adapted to French life very well.
To celebrate Mardi Gras in 1999 Hannah dressed up as a clown. The Primaire and Maternelle Schools of Champagne Mouton all took part and paraded around the town. Finishing at the Salle de Fete for the spectacular of M. Carnival. Afterwards refreshments were served.
Hannah says that her favourite colour is red or pink or blue or any colour in the rainbow !!
September 1999
In September Hannah moved up in to the Moyen section in Maternelle. Her French is improving. She remains very mischievous, but very adorable. She has trimmed her hair twice this year to see what it would look like.(It definitely was not an improvement)
Mardi Gras 2000 Hannah dressed up as a rabbit. Much fun was had on this day.
Unfortunately June 2000 just before the summer vacation Hannah broke her arm and spent the summer holidays in a cast much to her disgust as she was unable to go in the swimming pool. Although the cast did not stop her doing anything else. She is fully recovered now.
Year 2001
Hannah managed to break her right arm in February and so spent another six weeks in plaster of Paris it still did not slow her down. She is known at the local GP’s as “la reine des plâtres”. Hannah is now six and in her first year at l’Ecole Primaire, Champagne Mouton. She has made a good start and is reading with a good French accent. Although on her second day at school she came home and told us that the teacher had stuck Sellotape on her mouth because of her perpetual talking! She has made many new friends.
During the Summer Hannah enrolled for a course of intensive swimming lessons. Imagine her face at the first lesson when she had to get into the pool at the deep end. The maître de nageur was sympathetic and soon had the children's confidence by the end of two weeks she could swim a length of the pool in breast stroke with out aid. she is eager to start and learn the other strokes.
Year 2003
