Spring usually comes early to the Charente, but this year it is a little shy. The flocks of cranes  migrating to warmer climates have heralded the passing of Winter and the early Spring flowers are poking their heads in the grass verges and protected meadows.

Soon we will be visited by other migrants such as the Hoopoe the first cuckoo has already been heard. In May we look forward to the nightingales singing in our garden
